Will we ever get “the dream”?

Right now being an official adult seems so far away.  (By “official adult” I mean someone who owns a home, has a family, etc…haha.)  But lately I’ve been day dreaming about what it would be like to own our own home and be able to customize it to look as 50’s-60’s as we want.  Sigh.  One day.  But for now, it’s a dream…when we get to that point, I am definitely going to put some of these appliances on the table as options for our kitchen.  I would love to go with a mix of white and the jadite green, but if Derek made me stick to all-white, I guess I’d manage to be okay with it too…  :)  But seriously, how AMAZING are these retro fridges, stoves and dishwashers?!  Check out their full color range at www.bigchillfridge.com.

We’ll get there one day.  :)

The perfect weekend.

Derek and I went to Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs for the weekend to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary.  Derek had been working like crazy for the last few weeks, so a relaxing weekend was exactly what he (we) needed, and it was so great to enjoy it together.  We laid by the pool for most of the time, but we also treated ourselves to a suuuper relaxing couples massage…oh man was that ever amazing.  We will definitely be back to Ace – it was very much our style.  Everything’s decorated with a vintage, hand-picked flare, and nothing is without character.  Mmm.mmm.mmm.  Love it.

Also, we started a new tradition!  Since not only did Derek propose to me with photobooth strips, but we also had a photobooth at our wedding, we are going to take a photos in a photobooth each year on our anniversary!  Lucky for us, the Ace Hotel has an old black and white photobooth in their lobby.  Meant to be.

I’m pretty sure I’m more in love with Derek now than I ever have been before.  He’s the best I could ask for.

The dream

Those of you who know me, know that I am obsessed with collecting glass bottles, jars, etc.  And many of you may have seen the recent Martha Stewart Living magazine that has some CRAZY images of a colored bottle collection…well, I am officially going to start REALLY collecting colored glass.  My collection has been so casual, but these images (see below) are just sooooo inspiring and breathtaking, I can’t help but put my love for color and glass into an actual collection.  So for those of you who are just ITCHING to get me presents (haha), you know what to get me.  ;)

Off to my anniversary weekend escape with my lovely husband!

Meow!

Sigh…I just want a kitten.  Every day I look on Craigslist for kittens.  Derek and I will probably go to an adoption event at some point…possibly.  Then I just saw this post on a lovely blog that I frequently visit called Paper n Stitch.  Which just furthered my need for some feline love.  (Sorry all you cat-hater friends of mine out there…my cat is going to be the coolest though.  You’ll see.)

(All images from THIS post, which has their true photo credits.)

(FYI I just added in the “loneliness” bit to add a little drama…for the most part.  Haha.)

–In other news, I will be posting actual photos of my apartment soon.  It’s finally getting close enough to being finished-feeling that I feel like I can photograph it.–

When we woke up this morning, our neighbor was just getting home with some fresh donuts. Wilder said through the screen door, "good morning Mr. Joel!" And he offered Wilder a donut, to which he promptly said "I LOVE TREATS! I LOVE DONUTS!" So so nice of Mr. Joel to share his Saturday morning treat with us! #wildercobalt [In case you don't look at IG stories...this. 👆🏻]
Wilder says "my" instead of "I" when speaking about himself, and it's the cutest thing. I never want to forget some of the stuff he says right now. The way he says "momma, what's that?" about EVERY LITTLE THING to learn new words is heart melting. 💙🍦 #wildercobalt For all the stressful momma-days I have, moments like this make up for it all. Happy 4th of July weekend from this little munchkin! (Please just pretend that his shirt has red stripes instead of orange, & I will have achieved the perfect all-American boy photo...at our favorite Swedish store. 😂👌🏻🇺🇸/🇸🇪 ) #wildercobalt Oh boy oh boy did we have a ROUGH afternoon trying to achieve a nap. We were both exhausted, and it resulted in a less than lovely exchange between us. I'm ashamed of how I was acting, and I can tell he was too. The moment I said, "want to take your nap with me?", he lit up and ran into my bed, Dina in tow. He fell right to sleep and so did I. An hour later I woke up, and he's still snoozing, so peaceful. There have been a lot of days lately that I feel so out of touch with him, and it breaks my heart. This kid is my everything, and to spend an hour+ of my afternoon screaming "STAY IN YOUR BED" at him just doesn't seem right. I'm praying for wisdom and understanding on how to keep my strong and beautiful connection with my boy as he grows and matures. For now though, I'm basking in the unproductive naptime and getting my snuggles in. #wildercobalt #momtalk Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband and Wilder's amazing dad, @_derekhansen. I love being a parent with you! .

#wildercobalt #fathersday2017 This boy is loooovvviinngggg having his uncle @itssean around so much! #wildercobalt THIS big guy. Today we had an action-packed day, despite the fact that I should have been packing for our move on Saturday (just down the road to Culver City). I've been working a lot lately, and just generally really busy, and have been missing our days together that DON'T include going to the grocery store. So, that's what we did. We went to music time at Cow's End, then shared bagels, watched a movie, went for a long walk, played with some neighbor kids, and ate dinner together. He knocked out quick tonight (after some strange and new excuses I am about to post in my story). I'm so proud of my little almost 2.5 year old, his sweet little attitude makes me so happy every day. #wildercobalt Even when peonies are falling apart and on their last leg, they are still so lovely. Perhaps there's a lesson here? 🙃 You could definitely say we have stationery fever. I'm ok with it. 📝 💛🗒🖋💌 We saw the best, most beautiful shades of pink today wandering around magical NYC.
