My sweet Ollie.

Before we got a kitten, several people told me about how their kitties changed their lives for the better.  I now completely understand what they were saying.  Ollie is the sweetest little thing, and makes my day-to-day life (while Derek is at work) so much more exhilarating.  Such a great little guy.  He is growing up so much though…I just want him to be teensy forever.

We are starting to make plans for the holidays.  Any suggestions on what we should do with Ollie while we are gone?  We don’t have many friends that will be in town, or who aren’t allergic, and while we could take him with us wherever we go, travelling with cats isn’t exactly the easiest thing ever.  Any suggestions?

The perfect weekend.

Derek and I went to Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs for the weekend to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary.  Derek had been working like crazy for the last few weeks, so a relaxing weekend was exactly what he (we) needed, and it was so great to enjoy it together.  We laid by the pool for most of the time, but we also treated ourselves to a suuuper relaxing couples massage…oh man was that ever amazing.  We will definitely be back to Ace – it was very much our style.  Everything’s decorated with a vintage, hand-picked flare, and nothing is without character.  Mmm.mmm.mmm.  Love it.

Also, we started a new tradition!  Since not only did Derek propose to me with photobooth strips, but we also had a photobooth at our wedding, we are going to take a photos in a photobooth each year on our anniversary!  Lucky for us, the Ace Hotel has an old black and white photobooth in their lobby.  Meant to be.

I’m pretty sure I’m more in love with Derek now than I ever have been before.  He’s the best I could ask for.

Life in Los Angeles

It has been almost a month since Derek and I moved south to Los Angeles from San Francisco.  While it was really sad to leave, we had so many supportive friends who were encouraging us to follow the direction we felt our lives were taking us, so we left feeling loved and excited for the new adventure ahead.  Putting our new home together has been quite a process, and we aren’t finished yet still!  I’d say we’re about 75% there, but still have a little ways to go…

So I am posting some photos of the place before (taken when we first viewed the apartment), and I have a few shots of it since we moved in, but keep in mind that when these were taken, half of what we own was still in boxes.  :)  Enjoy…

(notice the wall color.  we painted since this…it’s nice, we just felt like it didn’t make the place feel bright and open.)

Now here are the photos after we moved in (but taken about a month ago…)

(notice my yellow school chairs I got for FREE off craigslist!  and we painted our table light minty green!)

I will post more photos of our house soon.  I have a few more shelves to hang, which I am hoping is going to happen this weekend.   The little stuff that doesn’t have a place yet is starting to drive me completely crazy.  I’m trying to get it all done before next weekend when the fam comes into town (fam-in-law)!  :)  Then the following weekend, we are off to Savannah, GA for my beautiful little sister’s college graduation!  So proud of her.

I have tons of other stuff to post, but we really need to hook up internet at our apartment.  Hahah…we are living in the year 1995 over here…eek.

Until next time…

XO

Photographic Inspiration

I am beginning to plan out a new photoshoot with a some friends!  It’s been wayyyy too long, and I need to begin being more intentional about shooting on a regular basis for my portfolio.  Here are some images that I find inspiring from a few local photographers (Ericka McConnell, Stephanie Rausser, and Thayer Gowdy).  The date is set for March 28th and all parties are PUMPED.  Here are the beautiful photos by the lovely ladies mentioned above…

It’s been almost 3 years since Tanzania.

I was going through some photos today and started looking at my Tanzania photos.  Ahhhh, how amazing that trip was.  Derek and I have been dreaming of returning.  Doesn’t look like it’s in the cards for this year though…anyways, enjoy the photos!

(above: this is one of my favorite photos from the whole trip…)

So thankful for my big 3.5 year old, soon to be big brother. Every day I just sit in awe of how amazing he is (even during the craziest toddler moments...which are quite frequent lately). The way his little mind works and processes information is incredible. I love you, my firstborn, #wildercobalt!! ♥️
We went on a “popsicle walk” tonight after dinner to beat the heat. 🍭☀️ #wildercobalt
We had so much fun camping these last 2 weeks, we took the tent to the beach too. ⛺️🏖 Our ‘welcome’ back to LA was quite jarring with this crazy heat wave. 💰💰💰 later, we have a portable a/c unit and some window fans. Our house is by no means cool, but the edge has been taken off. So today, on our first full day back, we took to the beach. The ocean was cool, and the sand was HOT. ☀️
Cousin afternoon nap in the tiny home loft. 💤 #wildercobalt #judeemerson
On the final stretch to Colorado this afternoon with my boy. This kid is such a wonder. ♥️✨ #wildercobalt #hansensummerhaul
Day 1 of the #hansensummerhaul is in full swing! We got going a little later this morning than we wanted, so we decided to skip one of our planned stops (bottle tree ranch...anyone been?), but had lunch/explored #calicoghosttown, which was fun, but SO HOT, then stopped here at #sevenmagicmountains, where Wilder was in awe of the HUGE rocks that he said he could push over with his big muscles 💪🏻. 😂 Spending the night in Las Vegas tonight (where we got upgraded to a room bigger than our apartment, literally), and heading onto Zion National Park mañana! 🌈 . #wildercobalt
& a Happy Father’s Day to my own dear ‘ole dad, who is such a loving papa to his clan of grandsons. I’m so thankful I have such a great dad. Love you @johnhenrygates! #wildercobalt
Happy Father’s Day to my wonderful husband @_derekhansen. The day you became a dad, the world changed. The look on your face said it all — a proud papa from the first second this adventure began. Can’t believe we only have 18 weeks till we are doing this again! ♥️ #wildercobalt
As always, New York was magical and beautiful and so full of life. Not to mention, we couldn’t have asked for better weather (or company!). Bye, New York! Love you! ♥️
Last day of #nss2018! I’ll be sad to leave this beautiful city tonight, but I’m so thankful for all the fun we’ve had! It went too quick. 💌
