My sweet Ollie.

Before we got a kitten, several people told me about how their kitties changed their lives for the better.  I now completely understand what they were saying.  Ollie is the sweetest little thing, and makes my day-to-day life (while Derek is at work) so much more exhilarating.  Such a great little guy.  He is growing up so much though…I just want him to be teensy forever.

We are starting to make plans for the holidays.  Any suggestions on what we should do with Ollie while we are gone?  We don’t have many friends that will be in town, or who aren’t allergic, and while we could take him with us wherever we go, travelling with cats isn’t exactly the easiest thing ever.  Any suggestions?

Meow!

Sigh…I just want a kitten.  Every day I look on Craigslist for kittens.  Derek and I will probably go to an adoption event at some point…possibly.  Then I just saw this post on a lovely blog that I frequently visit called Paper n Stitch.  Which just furthered my need for some feline love.  (Sorry all you cat-hater friends of mine out there…my cat is going to be the coolest though.  You’ll see.)

(FYI I just added in the “loneliness” bit to add a little drama…for the most part.  Haha.)

–In other news, I will be posting actual photos of my apartment soon.  It’s finally getting close enough to being finished-feeling that I feel like I can photograph it.–

5 weeks, & 5 days.

There is 5 weeks and  5 days until Derek and I finally get married!!!!  We can hardly believe it, and we are SO EXCITED for this to happen.

On July 11th Derek finally proposed to me, and totally surprised me and created the most gorgeous, amazing engagement ring ever.  I really couldn’t be happier.  We decided on August 8th, 2009 for our wedding date, as we wanted to make our trip to Italy for my best friend Katie’s wedding our honeymoon, which we are departing for on August 25th (and we’ve had our tickets purchased for months!).

We are having a super small, intimate wedding with only 70 of our closest friends and family.  While we sooo wish that we could invite everyone we know to celebrate with us, it just isn’t possible financially.  Fortunately, we are still able to have the most perfect wedding of our dreams!  :)  Our wedding will take place at Radonich Ranch in Los Gatos, in the Santa Cruz mountains.  It’s the most perfect, amazing, gorgeous location.  I kind of can’t even believe that it exists.

It will be a joyous occasion, and we cannot wait to celebrate!  To check out our engagement photos, and to see details about the event, check out our wedding website!  http://www.derandmelareinlove.com

Yay!!

I am horrible at this! {day 15}

I deeply apologize…I have been horrible at posting the last couple of days!!!  AAAHHHH!!!  But also, I DID post one one day, but for some reason it didn’t ever actually POST!  Stupid iPhone app….

Anyways, I am going to go ahead and not post like normal right now, and tell you all to please go to the Invisible Children website and take a look at “THE RESCUE”.  Its an event coming up on April 25th, and if you are in San Francisco, I will really be hoping that you will attend, as I am helping coordinate the event.  All I can say is, go watch the 30 minute film (link to the right, or below) on their website RIGHT NOW (or during your lunch break or something…that’s what I did!) to hear/see all about it.  You are needed.

Welcome, baby Trust! {day 12}

My African family (Jackson, Ester, Talent and Joshua) welcome a new baby girl, Trust! I lived with them for 3 months in the summer of 2007 and every day I wish I was with them. I hope to meet little Trust some day soon. Below is a photo of Jackson, Ester and Trust! She’s so beautiful!

When we woke up this morning, our neighbor was just getting home with some fresh donuts. Wilder said through the screen door, "good morning Mr. Joel!" And he offered Wilder a donut, to which he promptly said "I LOVE TREATS! I LOVE DONUTS!" So so nice of Mr. Joel to share his Saturday morning treat with us! #wildercobalt [In case you don't look at IG stories...this. 👆🏻]
Wilder says "my" instead of "I" when speaking about himself, and it's the cutest thing. I never want to forget some of the stuff he says right now. The way he says "momma, what's that?" about EVERY LITTLE THING to learn new words is heart melting. 💙🍦 #wildercobalt For all the stressful momma-days I have, moments like this make up for it all. Happy 4th of July weekend from this little munchkin! (Please just pretend that his shirt has red stripes instead of orange, & I will have achieved the perfect all-American boy photo...at our favorite Swedish store. 😂👌🏻🇺🇸/🇸🇪 ) #wildercobalt Oh boy oh boy did we have a ROUGH afternoon trying to achieve a nap. We were both exhausted, and it resulted in a less than lovely exchange between us. I'm ashamed of how I was acting, and I can tell he was too. The moment I said, "want to take your nap with me?", he lit up and ran into my bed, Dina in tow. He fell right to sleep and so did I. An hour later I woke up, and he's still snoozing, so peaceful. There have been a lot of days lately that I feel so out of touch with him, and it breaks my heart. This kid is my everything, and to spend an hour+ of my afternoon screaming "STAY IN YOUR BED" at him just doesn't seem right. I'm praying for wisdom and understanding on how to keep my strong and beautiful connection with my boy as he grows and matures. For now though, I'm basking in the unproductive naptime and getting my snuggles in. #wildercobalt #momtalk Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband and Wilder's amazing dad, @_derekhansen. I love being a parent with you! .

#wildercobalt #fathersday2017 This boy is loooovvviinngggg having his uncle @itssean around so much! #wildercobalt THIS big guy. Today we had an action-packed day, despite the fact that I should have been packing for our move on Saturday (just down the road to Culver City). I've been working a lot lately, and just generally really busy, and have been missing our days together that DON'T include going to the grocery store. So, that's what we did. We went to music time at Cow's End, then shared bagels, watched a movie, went for a long walk, played with some neighbor kids, and ate dinner together. He knocked out quick tonight (after some strange and new excuses I am about to post in my story). I'm so proud of my little almost 2.5 year old, his sweet little attitude makes me so happy every day. #wildercobalt Even when peonies are falling apart and on their last leg, they are still so lovely. Perhaps there's a lesson here? 🙃 You could definitely say we have stationery fever. I'm ok with it. 📝 💛🗒🖋💌 We saw the best, most beautiful shades of pink today wandering around magical NYC.
