A new addition to the family

Last week Derek and I finally got our sweet little kitten. And oh boy is he something! He is 12 weeks old and teensy. Super playful and cuddly and so well behaved. We think he likes our home so far. :) However, we don’t have a name for him yet!! Boy names are so difficult it seems. Sigh. It’ll come to us…

Creative indulgences

today I went to Anthropologie (my favorite store in the universe), because for my birthday they sent me a 15% off card! so I put it to great use. really I didn’t need anything there, but since it’s my birthday, I bought a gorgeous set of wooden coasters for our living room. I spent almost 2 hours in there though, looking at everything and getting super inspired, like I usually do when I go in there. here are some fun photos I took while inside.

Christmas decor!

this year is my first year to actually be able to decorate my home for Christmas. in the past I have always had roommates with their own style or decorations, so I haven’t gotten to truly make it my own until this year! we finally got our home to a put together enough point where we wanted to have a housewarming/Christmas celebration. we packed 20-25 people into our apartment over the course of the night and had a wonderful time. it was suuuuuper cozy and warm. I made cranberry scones, chocolate chip cookies and apple cider (in my crock pot!). a delightful time indeed.

for our decorations I decorated our tree with some mini white frosted globe lights, and some sweet lace snowflake ornaments. very simple! I picked up some feux cranberry branches from Michael’s to put in some of my collected bottles on our mantle, and I hand needle felted a little garland for the mantle, and strung it on some leftover ribbon from our wedding. I also used a lot of candles that were leftover from our wedding to warm the place up. floating candles in some beautiful blue glass bowls, and I put some fresh cranberries in the water to float around the candle. cranberries are sooooo beautiful, I’ve had so much fun using them! next year I think I’ll make actual cranberry garland, I just didn’t have the shalack or whatever so they don’t rot. :)

An amazing location…

This gorgeous wall and door on 19th street at Valencia. Sooo amazing. I wanna photograph someone here… I wish my sister lived closer. She would be a perfect candidate.

Treats!

Today I decided to whip up a couple of snacks for the house! First, roasted some almonds I had around in the oven with olive oil, garlic, and cayenne pepper. They’re alright….not the best thing I’ve ever made. I’m never too crazy about my almond roasting results. Any suggestions, anyone?

Secondly, I made some delicious granola. I bought a bunch of dry, old fashioned oatmeal for $1.50 yesterday to try my hand at this. It was so easy. I’m definitely going to make my own granola from now on. All I did was mix 4 cups of oatmeal, 1 table spoon of cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, then in a separate bowl I mixed the wet stuff: 1/2 cup of honey, 1/4 cup of canola oil, & 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Then I poured the wet onto the dry, mixed it together, put it on a baking sheet for 10 minutes, then flipped it and baked it for another 10, then I mixed in some dried fruit! And voilà!! Delicious granola. Next time I’ll get more creative with flavors..this was just a trial. Haha.

Last night was the first evening I've gotten to see our Halloween window after dark. That rose gold spider web is even more magical and glittery at night! So proud of our handiwork on this one! ✨🕸 We got our copy today, and Wilder, Dina and I read 1/2 of it before naptime! So so beautiful -- mind blowing work of art, @casey_fritz! ✨ Today Wilder and I had a major @disneyland / @californiaadventurepark adventure. We got there before the park opened, and stayed until almost 7pm (super long day for us, since we are pass holders)! The parks weren't even packed, we waited no longer than 15 min for anything, and did as much as we could pack in. At the end of the day, Wilder still didn't want to leave, so I promised another visit soon. Taking a kid this young can be a challenge, but to me it's the most magical age so far and it just gets better every time. He loves it, and plays hard, excited around every little turn. We had the most fun today, I feel so happy. We said goodnight to each other with a huge, super tight hug and big kiss. My sweet boy. 🎈✨ #wildercobalt #californiaadventure #disneyland Getting to spend the week with my family was so lovely, despite that pesky hurricane canceling all of our plans. The quality time we got together was precious. •
PLUS...happy birthday sweet Jude! You are 3! 🎈🎈🎈

#judeemerson #wildercobalt ☔️S P L A S H💦 #irmageddon #wildercobalt He's ready. ⛈🌀💛#irmageddon #wildercobalt #florida We flew to Florida yesterday just in time. Granted, our original plans didn't include a hurricane, so that's too bad, but we are getting in some fun family time anyway. We got to see the moon in the sky on our way out of LA yesterday - I love this color palette. 💛 Today, I dropped my sweet boy off at his *first day of preschool*! He was so ready. He burst through the gate, running in, kicked his shoes off, and started playing with all the trucks immediately. I could barely get him to look up at me to give me a kiss goodbye. Then as I was leaving, he yelled out, "have a good day at work, momma!" 💔😍😭 He's gonna do so great. #wildercobalt #firstdayofpreschool #fbf to our vacation a couple weeks ago. Today Wilder stopped mid-bite at dinner, gasped, and said "where did my friends go?!" I asked him their names, and he said "Elsa and Faye!" I reminded him they are his cousins, and he just looked down sad and said, "yeah. I miss my cousins. I miss #beanheadfarm." 😔 So darn sweet. Wish we lived closer, @lyraburch & @elliotb13! Some amazing family memories were made this past week! Thankful we were able to take the time away! ❤️ #wildercobalt #beanheadfarm
