A new addition to the family

Last week Derek and I finally got our sweet little kitten. And oh boy is he something! He is 12 weeks old and teensy. Super playful and cuddly and so well behaved. We think he likes our home so far. :) However, we don’t have a name for him yet!! Boy names are so difficult it seems. Sigh. It’ll come to us…

Creative indulgences

today I went to Anthropologie (my favorite store in the universe), because for my birthday they sent me a 15% off card! so I put it to great use. really I didn’t need anything there, but since it’s my birthday, I bought a gorgeous set of wooden coasters for our living room. I spent almost 2 hours in there though, looking at everything and getting super inspired, like I usually do when I go in there. here are some fun photos I took while inside.

Christmas decor!

this year is my first year to actually be able to decorate my home for Christmas. in the past I have always had roommates with their own style or decorations, so I haven’t gotten to truly make it my own until this year! we finally got our home to a put together enough point where we wanted to have a housewarming/Christmas celebration. we packed 20-25 people into our apartment over the course of the night and had a wonderful time. it was suuuuuper cozy and warm. I made cranberry scones, chocolate chip cookies and apple cider (in my crock pot!). a delightful time indeed.

for our decorations I decorated our tree with some mini white frosted globe lights, and some sweet lace snowflake ornaments. very simple! I picked up some feux cranberry branches from Michael’s to put in some of my collected bottles on our mantle, and I hand needle felted a little garland for the mantle, and strung it on some leftover ribbon from our wedding. I also used a lot of candles that were leftover from our wedding to warm the place up. floating candles in some beautiful blue glass bowls, and I put some fresh cranberries in the water to float around the candle. cranberries are sooooo beautiful, I’ve had so much fun using them! next year I think I’ll make actual cranberry garland, I just didn’t have the shalack or whatever so they don’t rot. :)

An amazing location…

This gorgeous wall and door on 19th street at Valencia. Sooo amazing. I wanna photograph someone here… I wish my sister lived closer. She would be a perfect candidate.

Treats!

Today I decided to whip up a couple of snacks for the house! First, roasted some almonds I had around in the oven with olive oil, garlic, and cayenne pepper. They’re alright….not the best thing I’ve ever made. I’m never too crazy about my almond roasting results. Any suggestions, anyone?

Secondly, I made some delicious granola. I bought a bunch of dry, old fashioned oatmeal for $1.50 yesterday to try my hand at this. It was so easy. I’m definitely going to make my own granola from now on. All I did was mix 4 cups of oatmeal, 1 table spoon of cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, then in a separate bowl I mixed the wet stuff: 1/2 cup of honey, 1/4 cup of canola oil, & 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Then I poured the wet onto the dry, mixed it together, put it on a baking sheet for 10 minutes, then flipped it and baked it for another 10, then I mixed in some dried fruit! And voilΓ !! Delicious granola. Next time I’ll get more creative with flavors..this was just a trial. Haha.

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband and Wilder's amazing dad, @_derekhansen. I love being a parent with you! .

#wildercobalt #fathersday2017 This boy is loooovvviinngggg having his uncle @itssean around so much! #wildercobalt THIS big guy. Today we had an action-packed day, despite the fact that I should have been packing for our move on Saturday (just down the road to Culver City). I've been working a lot lately, and just generally really busy, and have been missing our days together that DON'T include going to the grocery store. So, that's what we did. We went to music time at Cow's End, then shared bagels, watched a movie, went for a long walk, played with some neighbor kids, and ate dinner together. He knocked out quick tonight (after some strange and new excuses I am about to post in my story). I'm so proud of my little almost 2.5 year old, his sweet little attitude makes me so happy every day. #wildercobalt Even when peonies are falling apart and on their last leg, they are still so lovely. Perhaps there's a lesson here? πŸ™ƒ You could definitely say we have stationery fever. I'm ok with it. πŸ“ πŸ’›πŸ—’πŸ–‹πŸ’Œ We saw the best, most beautiful shades of pink today wandering around magical NYC. Head over to @urbanic's feed for her slideshow of pink! πŸ‘›πŸŒΈπŸ’• New life goal: become the "Brunch Lady"
πŸ³πŸ’πŸ» #nss2017 I'm the worst today! It's my loving and wonderful husband's birthday today. I'm out of town, and he is home celebrating with sweet Wilder. They went to Disneyland, and I'm sure had the best time. Though I'm sad I'm not with him today, I'm so glad these two get some precious one-on-one time together. I'm thankful to have this man as my partner in life, and for all he does to support me/our little family. Happy birthday, @_derekhansen! ❀️ This beautiful Mother's Day arrangement was lovingly foraged from around the neighborhood by @_derekhansen & #wildercobalt. Those two are master flower arrangers! I'm so lucky. ❀️🌷 This morning was the annual fire fighters pancake breakfast, where you get to eat pancakes and climb on the fire truck. Fortunately for us, those are Wilder's 2 favorite things in life (he requests pancakes literally every day). He had the BIGGEST grin on this face the whole time we were there, AND he added another favorite thing to his list...bounce houses. This kid can JUMP. It was such a delight to get to see him so joyous and in his element completely. Thankful to be this boy's momma. #wildercobalt πŸš’πŸ₯žβ€οΈ
